You will need

DOUGH:

*3.5 cups flour
*3 sticks of butter of margarine
*250-300 grams sour cream
*pinch of salt
*baking soda (just a pinch)
*cranberries or raisins or whole preserved sour cherries.
FROSTING:
*chocolate butter-cream
*plain butter-cream or any other frosting

LET'S GET STARTED

Use butter at room temperature (soft) but don't melt it. Just mix all ingredients together. Boil water and let cranberries sit in hot water for about 15 min. Drain water. Divide your dough into even parts. Roll out strips, add cranberries in the middle and form a long "sausage" or little balls or short "sausages" to fill the inside. It doesn't really matter. Try to make your pieces not to thick or thing and with identical consistency.
Bake 480F until golden-brown. It should be done pretty soon. Let it cool completely. If you want your cake to have a few layers use smaller diameter baking pans for the same recipe. I strongly recommend to moisturizer your baked product by spraying with either sugar syrup or any juice. Let it get absorbed and soften the dough.

Layer baked pieces with chocolate butter-cream. Decorate with any frosting on top. I decorated the sides with crumbled dough leftovers. On top I sprinkled cocoa powder. Also I placed a few dark and white chocolate chips, raisins and nuts.

This recipe is for nuts lovers. :)
Works as a wonderful winter holidays centerpiece and a great gift.
In this video below I'll show you how using regular shaped baking pan
you can create a pine cone shaped cake. You can definitely use any cake
dough or frosting.
I added some greenery to make it more look realistic but it's up to you.
I LOVE oatmeal cookies, but after I bough silicon forms like these I just went crazy with my sweet combination.

I don't even necessary have any particular oatmeal cookie recipe. I just mix together main ingredients: oatmeal, butter, sugar, flour, baking powder, eggs. I've been baking so much I don't need a precise recipe now. This makes my treats taste unique every time. You can use any cookie recipe you like.

I like to fill them with all sorts of yummies: nuts, raisins, cranberries, chocolate chips, banana, peanut butter....

Then I mix cream cheese with a little bit of yogurt and sugar until it's smooth and pour it over the cupcake.

Sometimes I add egg or melted chocolate or orange/ lemon zest, also instant drink powder for color and taste. Just use my imagination.

You'll need:
*5 eggs
*200 grams sugar
*200 grams flour
*food coloring
*orange juice
*vase or any container
*skewers
* florists foam for flowers

INSTRUCTIONS:
Preheat the oven to 350°F and coat a baking sheet with cooking spray.
Mix eggs, sugar, flour and food coloring ( optional) together and pour different size circles/pancakes with a ladle. They won't be perfectly round but that's OK. Remember that the bigger pancakes you make the bigger flowers you'll get. To make them look more realistic it's important to have different sizes. This arrangement is the amount I got from the recipe.
Bake about 10-15 min or until golden brown. If you use food coloring then judge 'wellness' by the sides/rim.
When done it's important to keep your baking sheet inside the oven. You want your pancakes to stay hot as long as possible. You'll need to work fast so they don't burn ether having to sit in a hot oven. To make a flower all you do is roll petals together starting with the smallest working your way to the biggest. You may want to wear some gloves to protect your hands from heat, because that's what makes petals stick/glue together.

To keep my roses moist and to add some additional character to the taste I sprayed them with some orange juice and rubbed with a little bit of sweetened condensed milk.

Then decorate a vase. Put some foam inside. I skewered my flowers adding blueberries to hide the tips and added some orange slices just to make my bouquet more rich looking.

At the beginning of my art route I found a picture of this interesting purse
I would like to share with you some of my deco ideas/looks for the house.
Let's look closer at what I did on the first picture. One day I got lucky to buy 10 cent frames with some pictures inside in a Family Store. ( Yes, I bought all they had on sale....10 cents....oh, yesssss. Wouldn't think such prices exist in 2011 :) )
The very base of the centerpiece is one of those frames. But what I did, I took some leftover fabric from the chair you can see on the background of the picture and upholstered the picture that was in the frame. I didn't even bother to glue 2 pieces together, just in case I may want to reuse some of the elements in the future. Then I placed a decorative golden plate, some cheap Christmas tree deco balls ( red), added a golden bird and a glittery flower for some sparkle. By creating visual layers with different shades of gold, orange and red this centerpices is truly rich and impressive. It makes a great conversation piece and is a true joy at meal times.
Fall is a wonderful season, when it's sunny and warm. I wanted to bring those same feellings and colors to my table. The flowers were simple mums from my yard. To create this perfectly round arrangement you may watch this video. Personally I cleaned off all the leaves and separated bigger flower clusters into much smaller. This way it's much easier to control the shape. I didn't bother to use any tape to hold the stems together. My vase had a very narrow neck anyways. White ribbon and a bow covered up uneven stems adding elegance.
Easy, bright, colorful!!!

Some crystals and drinking straws. One jar though has some candy on the bottom (those candies actually triggered the idea). Once, my husband had his sweet tooth cravings and ........oh, no....he dug in....and ate some of them. LOL
"This is simply genius!!!"
That's how one of my friends reacted to a picture of my edible arrangement on Facebook. Well... that's what I thought myself. Ha-ha.
This creative passion of mine has started just a few years ago from jewelry. One day I decided to fix my mother's old bracelet ...but instead turned it into a necklace. I would compare that innocent bracelet transformation with a spark in a stack of hay. Ever since I am on FIRE! The more I do...the more I want. It's like my motto now.
How do I get inspired? Where do I learn how to do this or that?
I have my little secret ... It helps to speak different languages. In my case it's Ukrainian and Russian ....well a bit of Polish. Moreover, I did spent quite some time watching all sorts of 'how to videos', reading blogs, looking through pictures on Google. Also in my childhood I was blessed to have those charming quality time moments with my mother and my aunt working on arts and crafts.
I find it very useful to apply my acquired pieces of knowledge from different fields I've put my hands or eyes on. There are sooooo many of them I don't even want to try list them all. But I promise to create as many as possible instruction blogs in the future on various topics. If YOU get inspired by my works, please share. I would appreciate it very much!!!

 LETS GET STARTED

This isn't an original idea at all. But I haven't seen any pics online with roses like these arranged in a centerpiece. Plus, you can always play with shapes, colors and ingredients. This way it'll be a unique arrangement every time.
DOUGH : I make my dough, but it's different every time because I don't use any particular recipe, just eyeball it. You can use any cookie dough or pastry dough.

FILLING: apples or any other fruit. 2 big apples will be enough for about 10-12 roses.

SUGAR SYRUP: 2 cups of water, 1 cup of sugar. You can also add alcohol, food coloring, zest to the syrup. The amount of any of the ingredients doesn't have to be precise at all. We need just to soften our slices of fruit.

You may watch it here

STEPS:
Note. I took pictures only when making my second arrangement that looked like this:
Baking: 350F on a non stick cookware for about 20 min or until golden-brown.
Make the syrup. I added a Fruit Punch drink dry mix for the color. Boil apples until soft. Apples should be sliced thing.
Dough should not be very thing or thick. Stripes shouldn't be perfectly cut or of the same size. You'll actually need different shapes and sizes for the better look. But still try to make roses only slightly smaller or bigger for even baking.

I used plastic floral foams from a dollar store to build my arrangement. Since we want to serve food it's important to cover that with something. I used salad leaves. It can also be cabbage. As an alternative instead of the foam use firm fruits or vegetables.

To protect chocolate from touching lettuce and create additional visual volume I cut out some sort of flowers from parchment paper. Placed them under each rose. Paper flowers are optional.
Use toothpicks or wooden skewers to secure edible roses. You may want
to cut skewers in half. It depends on the design and depth of
course.

Didn't we have a left over syrup???
Keep cooking it until it gets thicker. Add sugar if needed. Mine is so dark because of the red food coloring

When it cools off a bit cut it slightly and when still warm and flexible I made roses using the same method as with dough roses. This is more for decoration. Though if to pour hot syrup in a shape of circles and put toothpicks in the middle you'll get awesome suckers. ( like in my very top picture)
